Projektbeschreibung

Project Description
Photos from a journey are arranged in “orbits” around a central point, which become narrower from the inside out. The orbits take the form of rectangles that touch one another. The photos move along “their” orbits—with each movement covering a distance corresponding to their height or width. This is one direction of movement. The other is a centrifugal or centripetal movement.
With each movement step, the image currently in the center yields its position to the first image in line from the orbit initially surrounding the center. At the same time, it jumps to the vacated position. This continues until the original central image has completed one full orbit. In the next movement step, the former center image jumps to the next outer orbit, and the space required for this is vacated by the first image in that very orbit.
This image then jumps to the vacant spot in the next inner “circle,” where the central image was just located. This type of swapping continues until all the photos in the outermost orbit have been in the center at least once. – So far, there are “snapshots” of the depicted movements, meaning that the movements must still be (re)constructed in the viewer’s mind but cannot be experienced directly.
