Why Swedish Lapland?
Because it has never let go of me since my first trip in 2009. Standing on a mountain summit for the first time, looking out over kilometres of nothing but quiet, untouched nature, something clicked. No roads, no power lines, no noise – nothing to interrupt the moment. That was when the thought was born: One day, I want to live here.
It took until 2016 to make that dream a reality. Since then, we’ve been living just north of the Arctic Circle – with 24 hours of daylight in summer and long, crispy cold winters. The constant change, intense experiences in nature, and a deep, genuine silence are what make life here so special to me.
Nature & Landscape Photography
I’ve been out and about with my camera for many years now, always on the lookout for motifs and special light. It takes the right timing, patience, and a bit of luck to capture moments the way I experienced them.
When sunlight hits a scene at just the right angle, when an image conveys the sharp cold of a winter’s day, or when looking at a photo brings back a sense of silence and vastness – that’s when I’m satisfied. Focusing on seemingly small details, searching for the best possible light, and actively experiencing my surroundings – that’s what photography means to me.
Watercolour Painting
On a gloomy, rainy day, sitting by a warm fireplace with a brush in my hand, a sense of calm settles in. Watercolours give me a very special way to bring moments inspired by nature and imagination to life.
Compared to photography, the appeal lies in freedom: it’s not about depicting a real scene. The image can evolve while I paint – and sometimes even surprise me.
