ÖXARÁRFOSS | This is the waterfall Öxarárfoss that we found on the beginning of our complete journey around Iceland by coincidence following a sign on a parking area. Hier nun der Wasserfall Öxarárfoss der am Beginn unserer kompletten Island Rundreise lag. It´s the 3rd highest waterfall in Iceland with a hight of 122 m. To reach it we had to drive on a gravel road for 5 km. The gravel road changed more and more into a hiking path and it was really difficult - even with a 4x4 not to ground. But it was worth it. We just arrived for sunset and so we had no time left for hiking there. We have to make good for it on our next trip to Iceland. Unser letztes Ziel des ersten Tages - der Háifoss Wasserfall. Es handelt sich mit 122 m Fallhöhe um den dritt-höchsten Wasserfall in Island. Um dorthin zu gelangen mußten wir 5 km auf einer Schotterpiste fahren die zum Schluß eher wie ein Wanderweg anmutete und unheimlich Nerven gekostet hat, da man selbst mit dem 4x4 ständig dachte aufzusitzen. Aber es war es wert. Wir waren pünktlich zum Sonnenuntergang dort und so blieb leider keine Zeit mehr dort zu wandern. Huge and impressive it is. But it´s nicer to follow the river into the mountains for an hour or so. A beautiful green valley with further nice waterfalls. Einer der bekanntesten Wasserfälle ist der Skógafoss. Groß und beeindruckend ist er schon. Allerdings ist es schöner dem Flußlauf in die Berge zu folgen. On the way we had to cross some fords which was not really a problem - even with our small Opel Mokka. But as we approached a bigger one we gave up and did not take the risk. Dabei hatten wir einige Furten zu durchqueren - was eigentlich kein Problem war - sogar mit unserem kleinen Opel Mokka. Aber schließlich kamen wir an eine etwas größere und haben uns nicht mehr durch getraut. Stopping several times to marvel at the stunning landscape. Wir fuhren weiter südlich des mächtigen Gletschers Vatnajökull Richtung Osten. It sometimes stopped but I was really disappointed from the place. I took pictures nevertheless - now I´m glad :-) This is what came out after I stitched one of my panoramas toghether.... Wir kamen in Stokksnes morgends um 8:30 Uhr an und es hat fein genießelt mit fast keiner Sicht. Manchmal hat es etwas aufgehört aber ich war wirklich enttäuscht von dem Ort. Trotzdem machte Bilder - worüber ich jetzt froh bin. Then at about 4 p.m. the rain stopped and we went to the nearby Grundarfoss waterfall. The light was so beautiful and the sun was coming through the clouds and created a scene I will never forget... Wir kamen in Grundarfjörður bei starkem Regen an und sind erstmal im Hotelzimmer geblieben. Dann um 16 Uhr hörte der Regen auf und wir gingen zum nahegelegenen Grundarfoss Wasserfall. In my effort to get a nice picture I climbed higher and higher until I suddenly was at the top of the waterfall. Here I took this breathtaking panorama (7 pictures) Wir kamen in Grundarfjörður bei starkem Regen an und sind erstmal im Hotelzimmer geblieben. Dann um 16 Uhr hörte der Regen auf und wir gingen zum nahegelegenen Grundarfoss Wasserfall. Die Sonne brach gerade durch die Wolken und hat eine unglaubliche Lichstimmung erzeugt die ich wohl nie mehr vergessen werde. In meinem Bestreben ein gutes Bild zu schießen bin ich immer höher geklettert bis ich schließlich oben am Wasserfall war und dieses atemberaubende Panorama fotografieren durfte (7 Bilder) - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comKirkjufell | This is the famous Kirkjufell mountain. Voted one of the ten most beautiful mountains in the world. Usually with the Kirkjufellsfoss in the foreground I looked for another perspective and found this pond. The weather was very instable and seconds after I took these pictures (panorma of 3) heavy rain started. What I only realized later on my computer was the green mood around the mountain and the reflection in the pond. This is the first Northern Light I did not see :-) Later in the evening though we got much more of it. Das ist der berühmte Kirkjufell Berg. Gewählt als einer der 10 schönsten Berge der Welt. Normalerweise sieht man ihn mit dem Kirkjufellsfoss Wasserfall im Vordergrund weswegen ich nach einer anderen Perspektive gesucht hatte. Das Wetter war sehr instabil und Sekunden nachdem ich die Bilder für dieses Panorma (3 Bilder) gemacht hatte begann es stark zu regnen. Was ich erst später am Computer bemerkt hatte war die grüne Aura um den Berg und die Reflektion in dem Tümpel. A look out of the window and someone shouted to us "The Northern Lights - over there" and meant on the other side where we couldn´t see them. We grabbed our camera equipment and drove the short distance from Grundarfjörður to Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall and I took this first picture with the waterfall in the lower left foreground Dieses Bild entstand am 1.Okt. 2015 um 22 Uhr. Wir waren in unserem Hotelzimmer bereit ins Bett zu gehen als plötzlich ein Tumult im Hotel begann: Türen wurden zugeschlagen, Leute rannten umher. Ein Blick aus dem Fenster und jemand rief uns zu "The Norther Lights - over there" (auf Deutsch: Die Polarlichter - da drüben) und meinte die andere Seite wo wir sie nicht sehen konnten. So we went up on the left side and were able to take some pictures up there (just before sunset). This time we had planned to be there for sunset and started at 10 p.m. by foot. Wir haben uns hier ganz nach vorn gewagt - aber immer darauf bedacht am Gletscher vorbei zu gehen. Hier sieht man erst mit welcher Kraft die Natur arbeitet und den Schutt vor sich her schiebt. One of the less regarded glacier lagoons at the south-east foot of Hvannadalshnúkur (Icelands highest mountain). We dared to go to the very front - always on the rubble - avoiding the glacier. Im letzten Herbst waren die lustigen Gesellen leider schon weg. Richtig schön zu sehen bekamen wir sie am unteren Parkplatz von Dyrhólaey wo sie zu tausenden von Ihren Nestern zum Fischen aufs Meer und zurück flogen. Puffins were on top of our Iceland list this year. Last autumn the funny guys were already gone. Wir stiegen aus dem Bus aus und 15 Minuten später fing es an zu regnen und hörte die nächsten 4 Stunden unseres Aufenthals praktisch nicht mehr auf. Dieses Panorama entstand freihand in einer Regenpause von vielleicht 5 Minuten. We came 2 hours late to Landmannalaugar because of the bus company and the good weather was gone. We got off the bus and 15 minutes later it started to rain and did practically not stop for the next 4 hours of our stay. Das hat auch recht gut geklappt. Bis auf die Schlucht und das Gestrüpp das man bei Google Maps nicht sehen konnte :-) Panorama aus 23 Bildern We had no 4x4 this time and so we decided to park at the 32 and walk cross country to the waterfall.
