Although the lake is located close to the cities of Berlin and Potsdam the Dark Sky Park Westhavelland is just around the corner. The park belongs to one of the darkest locations in Germany and offers a number of interesting observation points. Around midnight - the waning moon was just rising - the milky way passed thru zenith and presented itself with a wealth of details. To show the full milky way band I took a three row panorama, each row consisiting of 7 exposures of 90sec with a 15mm lens @ f/3.5, ISO 800. The astrotracer function of the camera was activated to keep stars as solid dots. The shot was captured at Salto del Gitano, a hot spot for vulture watching in the park, facing Peña Falcón.
